The good news is that if you're on Fedora or Arch, it still works fine on Proton.

The way I ran it was that first, I used Wine to install the Windows installer, then I went to my Wine directory (/home/[username]/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/alterorb/) and added alterorb.exe as a non-Steam game.

Then, I switched to Proton 11 in the compatibility tab. Works like a charm!

Apparently, fans are in the process of reviving FunOrb, the "hard casual" browser gaming site by Jagex, the devs behind RuneScape!

This exists in two forms: Arcanists, the most popular FunOrb game, is now free on Steam. Then AlterOrb, an open source restoration of the wider library, is free from their site.

It's incredible to know these games haven't been lost to history. I had a load of fun with them as a teenager!

@nprofile1q... I have truly INCREDIBLE news: I discovered that most of these games are now playable again! Arcanists (the Worms-like one) is on Steam for free, as Jagex licensed it to fan devs, and the rest of the FunOrb library is in the process of being restored via the AlterOrb project!
