Bitwarden execs are being changed, so some of the promises. We might be reaching Enshittification stage now so keep tabs on the changes if you are using it. https://www.fastcompany.com/91542655/bitwa...

@nprofile1q... not using BitWarden .. still sucks.
It seems to me that we've reached the generation of CEOs who will simply swoop in to a company and remodel anything after purely data driven optimization and big egos they've been taught at business schools.
Yes, there are still good eggs and yes this is subjective but to me it seems like there's more and more reports about such restructurings everywhere.

@nprofile1q... One one hand the trailer by itself looks a lot NOT like Resident Evil.
On the other hand it doesn't give much away, which leaves a lot of room for slowly bringing the story to the lore.
Resident Evil VII also did a lot of very alien things in the beginning but reignited the franchise.

And personally I am just glad it's not another C-Movie with Milla Jovovich that is also not really RE.

Cautious optimism from my side.

@nprofile1q... BF at the moment (with Anthropic) has ~10x what Godot has. For a FOSS project Blender is doing exceptionally well. Maybe still not as good compared to an Autodesk or Adobe, but still very, very good.

Of course they can always use more money for when things go south but they could very well have made an exception here if they wanted.

I don't want to make a judgement, though. The stance on donatins is clear: NO obligations. I don't *like* it but I don't see it too negative, either.

@nprofile1q... @nprofile1q... this. Also Adobe, Google, Meta ... Blender Foundation has zero obligations and GPL can't be reversed.

There IS a discussion to be had whether there is a red line for accepting sponsorships, especially knowing the discussions against AI from the core devs going on in the dev forums.

But I said it in several other places: Anyone who is worried about big corpo money should probalby also donate to guarantee their favorite software remains independent.

@nprofile1q... you do you, but if you haven't donated before this sounds more like a good excuse to keep on not donating. 🤷‍♂️

I'll keep on donating like I did for the last 6+ years because they ALWAYS pleaded for the vast userbase to help a bit instead of just a few big sponsors. And I'Ve followed Blender long enough that I know their moral compass is right.

May I add: #FOSS needs support from the user base! Anyone who is worried that #Anthropic is a problematic sponsor for #Blender should also ask themselves whether they are donating to to foundation.

I will also say that Blender Foundation so far has always remained free in what they do with their donations. People freaked out when Meta and Adobe started sponsoring as well and it was unjustified.

But the point remains: Anyone who worries about their favorite Open Source project should donate.

@nprofile1q... I would say a pretty good general rule of thumb for any project that needs to generate money should be: prepare for failure - period!

Sounds harsh but the reality is that the market is so fucking huge that it's very likely that things will not turn out as hoped. Even if you generated enough buzz beforehand.
In short: Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst.
