with multisig you must save the descriptor or some shit, so unless you fully understand what you are doing stay with singlesig imo.
also passphrase being nonstandard is a feature not a bug, see decoy wallets.

You don't need the configuration/descriptor file if you're executing a 2of2 or 3of3. You just recover the multisig wallet as you would a singlesig, by just uploading the keys to nunchuck or bluewallet under the multisig tab and your wallet will recover.
