I like the concept of remirroring nosts that I like from people I like but i don't have any ideas how I'd deal with people that post innocuous stuff for months than drop the most terminally online turbo goon shit god has ever seen.

The mutual symbiosis of trans adult content creators calling themselves 'femboys' for SEO purposes and people not noticing because they're too preoccupied with jorkin they shit has been a disaster for the LGBTQIA+ community and that's on Jah.

Digg did not die because it had too many AI bots, or Spam, I was on Digg. The complaining about spam bots is nothing but an attempt to hide the fact they were intentionally fudging their numbers, from the beta to the launch posts went up 10s of thousands in supposed daily viewership and interaction. It's transparent that reddit guy, who previously followed Reddit when they were in their infancy told them to just copy every reddit play. Not realizing that people don't fucking want Reddit again, they already have Reddit, and with the potential capital that Digg was exposing themselves too they could have stood to challenge that. Hell, this is being posted to nostr and there are proof of concept reddit clones built on Nostr that probably could stand a chance at being big if they had Jack money. Overall Digg just seemed like such a waste of potential and all their blog post does is make excuses about things that don't appear to be real, and I'm not holding my breath on them continuing Digg but if they do, they'll likely be befallen by the same plight.

3 months ago I talked about Digg on Bsky, here's what I said at the time:

Tired of passion projects devs with no incentive to make a profitable product. In theory you'd assume that would foster creativity that wouldn't be allowed in standard development, most of the time what actually happens is they refuse to make a mass market product and instead just have a fandom.

Which for the record from the User perspective, is a bad thing. I don't want a small niche internet fanclub for my particular fixation / focus interests. Those are things that will naturally emerge from platforms proper. I want a platform that I can broadly contribute to the growth of.

If I wanted another subreddit, I'd make one or switch to a different one, or go to one of a billion services offering that. I want a new platform that has potential so I can enjoy a broader environment that's actually different. I don't want to live in a cope haven for a washed up tech billionaire.

Especially when the company shows they have no broad intent of taking risks to grow. It really feels like "Let's use investor capital to create a social media / feed site essentially just to bolster our podcast."

If you know the website / app / podcast I'm talking about, that's a bad sign, and if you don't know it? That's WAYYYYYYY WORSE. These magnates have more money than god and can and will analyze vaguepost from their extended network of users and early adopters. You know who you are.
