I had an amazing time at the #linux app summijt, here's my talk on GNOME OS and KDE Linux.

It's awesome to see the energy around buildstream, and I'd like to thank all the people who helped put Dakotaraptor together.

Sometimes as a builder, you just know when you've made something special. And it feels even better when you know you've picked a kickass tech stack.

Ahmed made a COSMIC image, tulip's had Zirconium with niri.

The nice thing about this is the #freedesktop sdk neutral. It's just the desktop base image to choose.

Then instead of "why are you inventing a distro" it's like who cares, your user experience is in your config. You get all the benefits of having a distro but you share the maintenance upstream. Every "Joe's own distro" would be part of the testing pool.

Think of the diversity of setups!

Huh, yeah, Firefox was layered in 20260406 and no longer there in 20260415 even though rpm-ostree install thinks it still should be.

For me, using any new system provides an opportunity to learn different ways of doing things. I pick up little things every time I make a switch. Configs, apps, fonts. I went from Silverblue to Aeon to Bluefin. I am very much NOT a cloud-native developer. I'm just a dabbler, and I do that in Distro...
