I saw Chris Guida has prepared a hard fork. I hope it does not come to that but if it does I have a couple questions.
What algorithm? To be honest, I'm sick of buying asics from China. Really would not like to have to buy asics for a different algorithm when I have gpus laying around. Are there any algorithms that are secure that also would allow gpu miners to compete with asic miners?
Is it possible to hard fork back to the genesis block? I'm concerned that there is already data on the blockchain that could be used against the true bitcoin fork if it competes with the spam fork. If there is going to be a hard fork, it seems to make the most sense to wipe everything and start fresh at the beginning. It probably would buy years of time to prepare against the hostile attacks that will come as well.
