@cool_boy_mew Yeah you were still on Skylake CPU and pascal GPU if I remember correctly. At the time that hardware was top notch and it had a long life but it's hard to handle the task of modern stuff.

Yeah I got a glass side case ( Lian-Li LanCool 2 from 2020 ) My glass has a couple of deep scratches in it and it pisses me off. My own fault for letting the glass sit on the floor while cleaning it. A spec of dirt scratched it good.

Last thing would be to confirm if your case has enough space to slot the GPU. If you can confirm that you should be all good to go. I know nowadays getting cases with DVD reader/s drives is kinda antiquated since a lot of people just get external usb readers due to the USB3 bus being larger than an optical reader's max speeds.

@cool_boy_mew RTX 9060XT would be good for what you would use it for. And AMD has plug and play drivers for linux for the GPU.

So far the only bottleneck I see in the system would be the Sata 3 SSD. Your board should have gen4 or gen5 nvme slots. Even a cheap Gen 3 NVME drive would be 3x faster than a sata 3 ssd.

nvme gen4 drives can go up to like 7GB/s

I use a single stack noctua cooler that was like $80 and I had to use a -30pbo offset for the cpu to not run 80C+ all the time.
