Just on the bus from Kirkcudbright to Dumfries — about 25 miles — and it's a new, Chinese made, electric bus, about 25 seats, with a good rack inside for three upright bicycles. Obviously it's sad that it isn't made in Scotland — this is something we certainly ought to be doing — but nevertheless electric public transport on medium distance routes has to be a very positive thing. A little quieter and more comfortable than fossil fuel buses, but not much.

Yesterday I said that I had written three good essays this week, and published two of them. Today, I'm publishing the third. This one is not at all cheerful.

I've had a blog post half written for months now arguing that liberalism is incompatible with democracy, because the economic freedom which is central to liberalism drives concentration of wealth, and where there is concentration of wealth, the wealthy inevitably have undue political influence.

I should finish it and publish it.
