@nprofile1q... I've been wanting to look into RISCV for a while, but I have no real use-case for a machine, which means it's hard to narrow down the specs I'd want (and a workstation-level machine would be quite expensive). Any surprising use-cases I might have missed?

I have yet to see any application where RISC-V is really better than ARM. The architecture is kind of where ARM SBCs were 10 years ago. But it's a fun platform to tink...

@nprofile1q... Not to tell you how to run your machines, but I recommend something like ulogd and tweaking the firewall rules, to keep dmesg a bit cleaner. I've had a case many years back where fw DROP messages outcrowded messages about a failing disk (yesyes, log monitoring etc, still.)
