As a scientist who does participatory research, the idea at the heart of my work is the trusting human connection between people.

I disregard such outreach from decisions in whatever form it takes, but my heart sinks when I see people who, for whatever reason, feel pressured to treat one of the most significant intellectual relationships of their lives as just another unit in a decision-making system.
