If you want to know why I took photos of a book about AI in front of a barn and a series of ice cream machines, more details are in the post.

I'll be sharing pictures of the book from other significant locations in the history of science, technology, and fairness over the next few weeks, so follow along!

To help leaders know how to think about AI evaluation, the chapters in the book use stories to explain the core questions any leader needs to know:

- What is AI Auditing?
- What kind of work is involved in an AI evaluation?
- How can leaders make sense of audit results?
- What actions does an evaluation make possible?

Are you a leader trying to figure out how to evaluate an AI system? Are you in business, journalism, civil society, or the tech industry?

I'm excited to share the publication of the (open access) book I wish I had in my first job testing AI systems seventeen years ago: "Auditing AI."

Together with a dream team of scientists, policy experts, lawyers, and journalists, we distilled decades of experience in AI evaluation into a get-up-to-speed book for anyone who needs to understand AI evaluation yesterday.

Now that more authors and organizations are understandably requiring email sign-ups to access blog posts, reports, and articles, it's harder than ever to read email.

What are people doing to extract, summarize, and decide what to read from all the newsletter links that are crowding out your inbox?

Thanks for your note, @nprofile1q... ! Yes, eleven years into collaborative research with communities on reddit, and I continue to be delighted by the creativity and variation that people bring to different ideas of community.

I would love to learn more about the groups you mention- do you think any of them might be interested in doing the survey? We're hoping to survey enough to be able to do comparisons.
