This is the time to make a really good backup and archive plan for your important data. Had this once and learned my lesson after that.

Since then I have a raid nas with a constant sync of 2 PCs+the raid on the nas. An external HDD plus a usb stick.
And an off site archive for the most important stuff of high value which I update every 6month to a year depending on data inflow.

Agreed, i would also prefer ext4 in general, but as it was not an option... But it's strange, every Linux should be able to format almost everything in ext4

Hm, if you only use it in Linux environment I would go for xfs or btfs. If you plan to use it also in Windows machines maybe exfat

Kenne mich auf Madeira leider nicht aus. Aber Versuch doch mal einen Post auf Englisch, es schreiben hier mehr Englisch sprachige unterwegs zu sein. Wünsche dir viel Spaß auf Madeira.
