@nprofile1q... example: a special purpose solar PV developer, to fund and then directly power electrification of the Felixstowe adjacent diesel freight lines.
@nprofile1q...@nprofile1q... is devolution helpful here? I am thinking of the stunning success of TfL, and maybe also (I think?) IdF/RATP?
The burgeoning Transport for Wales and Transport for Greater Manchester PTEs also important signs for what can be done with not much. But perhaps there is no recognised demand for such things (because everyone who might, takes the car?)
@nprofile1q... on the plus side: if the operators really want to join tickets up at point of sale, they have to synchronise possessions. And the CER claims give them no excuse not to. And if they don’t want to join the tickets up at point of sale, we end op with ad hoc bundling rights (if the commission holds its nerve). Either way it seems to work 🙃
@nprofile1q... yeah. A pragmatic attitude- not sufficient, but necessary. British rail seems to outsource even that to Branson, which is a shame. Unless Renfe want to get a head start over trenitalia!
@nprofile1q... I worked out, to run Manchester to Brussels twice daily, you need two terminals (and Stratford’s relatively easy!), and SNCF to lease the 373s they have in storage, and the WCML/NLL paths. As far as I can see, that’s it. Perfect case for open access. Would be great if someone picked that up, wouldn’t it.
