in fifteen days i'll be closing my shop for an indefinite amount of time, because i will be traveling for an indefinite amount of time

(the best amount of time to travel)

if you would like to support my wanderings, which i always do on an insane shoestring budget, getting something from my shop is incredibly appreciated.

(i also still have some shirts available, which are not listed on my etsy, but you can find info on them in some earlier posts!)

@nprofile1q... oof. yeah. Thats a difficult spot to be in.

I would think that having a generated site, logo, etc would be easy to spot by an investor, and just prove to them how unserious the project is, if they’re not willing to hire a real human to get something done.

But then again i have no expertise in that space, so what do I know?

@nprofile1q... that is a completely reasonable quote. illustrating children’s books is incredibly hard work! it doesn’t do anything positive for the industry to devalue yourself.. that other illustrator you worked with has no idea what they’re talking about imo. alsooo……….idea guys that want art kids to illustrate their children’s book concepts are some of the most insufferable projects you can sign up for lmao.

i can’t get truly mad at a situation like this, because if he’s happy being a slop dog (new pejorative) I feel my energy would be wasted on such a project. i don’t want to work on design projects that look like boring shit, i can and have turned down work that does not suit me. i feel absolutely fine to be left free to work on things where my style will actually be appreciated.

recently, a family relation I am not close with asked me to do some graphic design for his new business. i said sure and gave him a quote, which was actually on the low side. he seemed shocked I was asking for real money for real work and ended the conversation. later I saw that he ended up using ai to design everything. it looked completely boring.
It drives me crazy that this is where we’re at, but ig ultimately you cannot sell a designer dress to someone who is happy with a walmart tshirt
