@nprofile1q... I’ve read The First Law trilogy and it was great but man did he get better at writing.

Like for example I respect Sanderson (and like some of his books) but find his writing mediocre; modern JA is a joy to read. Every paragraph a painting.

Relatedly, those who are desperate to read some great fantasy while GRRM is procrastinating: I’m almost 70% into Joe Abercrombie‘s “A Little Hatred” and it’s one of the best pieces of writing I’ve ever had the joy to read.

It’s in the same universe as his previous books but stands on its own just fine.
