Don’t call it age verification. Call it centralised personal data collection. And understand that it serves surveillance, not safety for children. Thank you for your cooperation. https://cdn.masto....

@Jan Wildeboer 😷:krulorange: "The billionaire who runs Palantir wants to know which specific devices around the world are being used by our children"
"The billionaire who runs Palantir is in the Epstein files"

Mayhaps there is a reason other than security that he wants to know where all our children are 😬

or maybe Is there documentation somewhere explaining the iconography that appears just below the user name to the right of the time stamp? Having trouble finding it, and there's a couple icons I cant figure out but dont have a tooltip.

Correct, the tooltips only partly work with touch devices which is what stumped me

@Robert Kingett @Rooktallon Our generation's "Schachtürke", wow-ing gullible people until it goes up in flames. 🫧💥

Ever notice how they always goal post move when you point out the latest failings? "Oh well y'know that was LAST week's model, the new one doesn't have those issues". The refrain for the last 3 solid years 🤣

@Em :official_verified: @jtonline My favorite is how Microsoft keeps burying tools further behind layers of "please use copilot". It now takes 5 clicks to get to my work. And for the lols I periodically ask Copilot to help me do the task Im trying to do instead, whereat it tells me it's not capable of doing said task 😆😵‍💫

This has instead resulted in me provoking a genuine interest among my exec team to explore just replacing Windows with Linux. Thanks copilot!

@Em :official_verified: When it comes to AI at work I started keeping a "Reverse Kaizen" tracker, where I measure how much less efficient our workflows are due to it. Like how many extra clicks are needed to do a task than before, how many more seconds it takes something to initialize, bugs and errors introduced into what were flawless workflows, etc. What's funny is the inefficiency exists for workers who use the AI as it makes dumb choices, but also workers who dont use the AI as they struggle to do their tasks with it jumping in the way adding redundant clicking and extra steps to push it out of the way. Last year in total we measurably lost 1 week per worker of productivity. Our bosses are now having buyer's remorse, but are also suffering from sunk cost fallacy. One month into 2026 we're already up to 1 cuumulative day lost.

@Stan Stewart aka muz4now And did I misunderstand that recent report that Spotify demonetizes 80% of the artists? (due to the less than 1k streams per year threshold?)

So they keep a large collection to attract listeners, but then dont share the spoils with 80% of who makes that attractive portfolio possible in the first place, concentrating the financial gains towards the artists who already have big listenership?

And that's why im sticking with @nprofile1q... instead, im done with the vulture music streaming services.

@AnarchoNinaWrites When learning about ww2 history, an artifact in one of the museums always stood out to me. It was a letter that said "DESTROY THIS LETTER AFTER READING" 🙃

A second thing that stood out was as a kid I was taught about the "complex killing methods". It was always framed like someguy rolled up with a meticulous set of blueprints. Totally glossed past the fact that based on what ive seen from the artifacts, it started way more disorganized and clumsy. They said "hey we're running outta room for more prisoners" and someone said "i dunno, kill some to make room i guess". Then they improvised really clunky ways of trying that initially. I think glossing past this incompetence phase has done a HUGE disservice to the world, because it conditions people to think the threat isnt real unless they see a hyper detailed, complex, orchestrated skilled presentation, like some of tv show "ah ha!" moment, instead of comprehending talentless xenophobes fumblefucking their way through genocide. "Move fast and break shit", but what they're breaking is people.
