oof. the whole post-coital Michael and Nikita scene explains a lot about my take on relationships and why I found theirs so touching. she says "I'm leaving. it's better for both of us" in that kind of dismissive, "well-you-don't-want-me-so-I-don't-want-you-first" way I know very well, and then he goes "I didn't realize I needed you so much", and at the FIRST sign of vulnerability she's all "oh, boundaries? fuck 'em, I'm back"
