hey thanks for your time to reply. I think EP is doing a great thing with SimpleX, and I hope he continues to improve. However, I disagree with SimpleX audio calls, when he literally put it in a web browser on Linux. It should be within his secure client. It looks like he just copied Jitsi, and...

That’s a good point, thanks for bringing it up. It was intriguing what he said though about client-side AI being a concern. It might be of a sly way to get around e2e encryption if it can read anything on the screen.

No idea. I have seen other projects that distribute fdroid and Google Play variants in their git repos, along with the straight package. I guess if you've already got the Google play or fdroid variant installed but want to start pulling from the repo, it provides an easy way to continue on without h...

Can Signal's open source encryption technology be used by Nostr as WhatsApp is doing? Or no need? Why not make a #Nostr #Signal partnership? nostr:nevent1qqs0yy00t08e2cwg9drkagvvahns3l39rhn3j2pzuggapw...

Signal specifically doesn't want to be decentralized as they don't think it's possible to compete in this market while being decentralized: https://signal.org/blog/the-ecosystem-is-moving/
I don't think Nostr needs to solve the secure chat problem as SimpleX is already doing that. Should just add a filed in profile for SimpleX address as is done with Lightning, and then phase out the current unsafe DM systems. It's a massive waste of developer resources for something that is being done better already + most devs aren't qualified to audit their own creations and security audits are expensive, so if we have lots of Nostr clients implementing a theoretical private and secure DM spec (yet to exist) then we need all of those to get audited, and having lots of implementations also delays progress/adoption of new features, which is especially important when it comes to privacy security, but is not really a problem for a public social media protocol that can easily be implemented by anybody regardless of their skills.

There are no Play Store or fdroid packages in the GitHub repo. Just the straight packages.

f-droid.org and Play Store release should have a difference package name to avoid conflicts though
