Remember Blackmoon?
Of course, you know
@nprofile1q... now, but do you remember Blackmoon back in the day?
Another y!gallery alum, someone who came out of nowhere with these lewd, smol boys that had just the right softness, just the right cuteness, the perfect proportions.
The fog of time and my (increasingly) shoddy memory led to me mixing these precious pieces with someone else's work. I spent some years searching for these under the wrong name -- not that I would have found them anywhere even if I'd had the name right.
Hilariously, it was because of how much of a Blackmoon fan I am now that I managed to solve this mystery. Some months ago, I contacted them hoping to put in a commission, only for them to remind me that I was the first person to ever commission them -- back in 2004! After reminiscing, Blackmoon produced these artifacts, found on a corrupted drive that he only checked because I was so desperate to see this old art again.
I've just been living with these since then. Looking them over and smiling. This was the first rendition of MS with the thigh straps. He obviously had fun putting his own spin on the costume, adding flared white shoulders and a creating a consistent aesthetic for the white trim. I love the fingerless gloves.
Moreover, the angel and devil style variants were completely unexpected. I actually had a physical photo print of the design, I enjoyed it so much. Look at how sultry MS appears as a lil demon. I guess enough seduction really does turn you into an incubus.
The larger work, where we see our hero in mid costume change on the scene of a crime, is also a favorite of mine. Anything that riffs on super hero tropes with MS is really gratifying for me, as he was born from my existing love of comics and boy heroes, and what's more of a trope than changing in the phone booth? Superman always did it too fast for it to be steamy, but MS fixes that. ๐ The decision to make his hair white here was always curious to me. His usually brown hair would go through a period where it's white, but Blackmoon didn't know that -- or did he?
You know, I post these sorts of retrospectives because it feels good to remember those times. There's no shortage of things and people to love in the community now, but there was a time when it was all coming into it's own. There were so many sites, so much energy and expression. My outlook was certainly bright...
Ah well. Enough nostalgia for one day. I hope these pics make ya smile.
