@Berk BerkmaNew Year

A simple man who loves to draw, goes to church, and has a loving family (which explains why I'm not terminally online). I am still fond of animation (and other media), despite the suffering (just lurk /co/ if you must). May Jesus Christ save me from the daemons in this world and in my computers.

Listening to some music with the FiiO FT1 Pro and the Snowsky Melody that I got several days ago. So far, it sounds pleasant overall, and the overall cost is probably the best part. Roughly $270 total ($219+$40+shipping), which is a steal.

@nprofile1q... Fortunately, there's still some indie/arthouse/foreign scenes worldwide that loathe almost everything about the Netflix audience and their ilk. I should note that I did not say a "good" movie would be made, though. The kinds of movies that fedi would enjoy is never gonna get some kind of attention from something like Cannes.

The more that I watch movies released these past several years, the more that I realize that the script is possibly the most important foundation for a strong, timeless film.

I watched Marty Supreme. It was kosher (I had a fun time in theaters, though). Without any spoilers, it was a fine watch, but it is overrated. The best aspects involve the ping pong games, and there's some funny moments that worked well. However, the story outside of the ping pong has some moments where it stumbles, especially towards the end. For anybody who's enjoyed Uncut Gems and other works involving those Safdie brothers, it's a no brainer to watch. If you're in it for the ping pong, you'll get much more than that, for better or worse. If you're looking for goodhearted people, this is not the film at all. Almost everybody has some kind of typical tricks within them. The soundtrack, while catchy, is odd sometimes since the setting is in the 50's, but there's some good pop music that plays that wasn't released until decades later (although much of the soundtrack is also electronic).

To put it simply: it's Ping Pong: The A24 Film. I'm really interested in Ping Pong: The Animation now, but mostly to see some more ping pong games rather than some sleazy drama.

@nprofile1q... The only trend that I could think of is further popularizing sci-fi comedy within the animated spheres, although that Richard & Mortimer cartoon was released a year before Space Dandy showed up on [adult swim] or really Toonami. The anime also premiered on that block before Japan saw it for the first time, which might've led to more anime and [as] collabs much later – for better or worse.
