No, I'm saying that the direct LLM output is slop. It is entirely possible for people read that slop, be inspired by it and write code that is not slop. You may even call that "reviewing the output" (it it's a very thorough review).

I may not think that is a good idea, for numerous reasons, but it is possible for a human to use an LLM in some ways and still write code that is not slop.

Note that Codeberg did not ban all use of LLMs, they just restricted it.

Pretty much that, Any code that no human understands is legacy code, any code that is produced as legacy code is slop.

Why do you think the definition "llm-generated code is slop" is self-fullfilling? What is your definition of "slop"?

Some people may not agree that "slop" is always bad. But saying that all llm-generated code is slop is consistent with any definition of "slop" I use.

Almost? What _is_ the definition os "slop"? There is no objective measurment of code quality, but I'd say "legacy code" is just code that no human cares about enough to understand. By that definition, llm-generated code is already legacy code when produced, and that's a good enough definition of "slop" for me.

The way I see it, Codeberg has decided to not participate in the crazy race for llms. Saying no to evil or stupidity isn't polarisation!

I agree (at least in pricinple) on more decentralised / federated forges, but I havn't had the time to try radicle (or any other system in that direction) seriously yet. And I haven't really seen any projects using them either. Is there any, besides radicle itself?

Yes, pretty much nothing happened for a very long time and that sucks. Now, in 2026, things are starting to happening.

It's still happening slowly, but now it is before it's complex and lots of things have to happen in the right order, not because it's ignored.
