I’m thinking about using 3d models as references since sometimes it’s hard to find dynamic/fun poses. I heard they could be useful for learning better (like regular references) so now I’m trying to figure out how I’m gonna use them in a productive way that actually helps me understand rather than just mindlessly tracing over them. Probably exaggerate the gesture and stuff a little bit when sketching the pose or something.

I have a fee drawings I need to get done. Once those are finished it’s back to some studies 😤 I’ll still work on some of the suggestions you guys gave me aswell so keep a look out for those.

Being bad at drawing certain things should be even more of a reason for me to draw them.

I might actually have to switch up the way I draw certain characters if I’m gonna start using references more often. Tbh I just cannot draw a character like Fink the way I currently do while using reference, it just doesn’t work when I use a more cartoony style. But I also don’t think she would look good in my more semi realistic style either 😭😭😭

One reason why I rarely use references is due to the fact that I can almost never find any that would help with specific poses. That and there’s also the fact that sometimes I just can’t find references with interesting enough poses for whatever scene I wanna go for at the time.

I’ve been REALLY locked in for the past week or so on my art studies. Feels like I’ve learned a bit over the past few days (And I’ve been having fun), but I think I’m missing one fundamental thing; using references. I rarely use references and I think that’s one of my biggest problems so I’m thinking of trying to use them a little more during this period. Tbh, I still don’t know how to draw with them without trying to copy 1:1 and making things look off, but I HAVE to try.

Looking for tips and guides on how to connect the pelvis and legs but I can’t find any thag actually help? My problem is moving the legs while keeping them connected. I know about the femur and stuff but how to actually move the legs while keeping it connected to the pelvis correctly is a whole other ordeal. I’ll keep looking but so far everything is just showing the basic front facing standing angle.

All I drawn today were some studies and stuff. I actually had fun doing it. I tried tk take a break and draw fink getting mating pressed but its such an impossible pose 😭😭😭 Pelvis studies next maybe 👀

I’ve realized recently and am like 90% certain that the reason why I’m not as good at art as I hoped I wouldve been by now is because I actually do more doodles and pages of practice for random subjects than I do actual complete drawings. That mixed with my inconsistent drawing routine really makes for a terrible combo. What I’m hoping to work on is getting that consistent drawing in much more, hopefully ATLEAST one figure drawing from reference a day or something.
