@nprofile1q... Oh I'm aware of both but never got to the chance to use them before being introduced to CDs and disc and then drives. I probably did discover the hard floppy first and learning about the actual "floppy" ones after but thinking about I would say the floppy ones come to mind first because they fit the name. If anything when you posted the hard floppy pic first you kinda unlocked a memory for me. :bloblaugh:

@nprofile1q... As for Nintendo, yeah they've had an online store ever since the DS era back around 2010. I don't know about them forever shelving physical copies of games as they still exist for now, though there are initiatives currently fighting against the full digitalizing of buying and owning games. Nintendo has been guilty for stripping games away from the store but over recent years have brung retro games back so they're on a Mary-go-round with how they're stuck in a cycle of doing good and bad

@nprofile1q... GOG is the only other real competitor to Steam that isn't Epic Games Store, which I forgot to mention. Apparently it stands for Good Old Games (had to look it up). It's still significantly smaller than steam in terms of success and possibly catalogue though that's debatable considering one of their main goals are to bring back beloved games to the market so they can still be played without being lost to time which has garnered them some success in that regard.

@nprofile1q... ...Perhaps it was for the best as nowadays gaming as hobby is even more expensive with the only exception being specifically computer games on services like Steam and GOG. Not only that if you did regain interest in gaming it would just become harder to manage your time as it's notorious for sucking it up. :blobnervous:

@nprofile1q... Woof, then you're quite the outlier my friend. You sound more like one of the oldies from the late 1990s and very early 2000s who didn't quite get gaming as it steadily grew in popularity everywhere. ๐Ÿ˜…

I'll say there's a WIDE variety of games out there now compared to back then so there's bound to be something that caters to your tastes if you gave it a chance. :akkoshrug:
