I'm still exhausted after all the peopling yesterday. Definitely not used to that much "on" time. Thankfully back at my quiet little desk with a candle going and a cup of coffee in hand today.

Have you ever had to pee so bad that you start rationalizing stopping on the side of the road, including any potential legal actions? Like, either I pee myself in the car, or the officer takes me in.

I'm headed into the office for Team Day today. Kind of looking forward to a little adventure. Sometimes working at home I wonder if my social skills are getting rusty. (Then I go into the office and KNOW they are.)

Got another 15 minutes before I have to boogey. I just hate waking Lu up to throw her in the car and bring her to the vet for day boarding. It would be so great if I could bring her with me.

Feeling tired and kind of achy today. Had a headache on and off for a couple days now. Guessing it's just the old hormones pulling out their usual bag of tricks, but man, I could really use a break.

It's finally starting to feel like Fall around here! I have the window cracked in my office to let a little cool air in. Got an apple-scented candle wafting its sweet notes into the room, and my sweet pup curled up in her bed at my feet.

Not a whole lot going on around here. We have Lu's follow up vet appointment this afternoon to see if her eye is healing. I'm praying that it's had enough time that we can take her cone off. She's had so many (literal) run-ins with the stairs lately that she's becoming hesitant to go up or down, leaving me to carry her both ways. Not that I don't love snuggling Her Fuzziness, but often I have my hands full already.

I'm remembering 9/11 from 25 years ago today. I was a freshman in college, barely two weeks into it when the planes hit the towers.

My radio alarm clock had some news announcements going off when I woke up that day, but I didn't stop to listen as I got ready for my day. Made it to my first class and barely anyone was there - our TA mentioned something had happened in NYC.

I left class and walked back to my dorm, where we had a TV room that fit probably around 200 people. The space was packed as everyone was gathered in clusters, watching replays of the planes hitting the Twin Towers. I found my roommate who was freaking out and crying, as she had family in NY and wasn't able to get through to them (they were in upstate NY, and were fine - phone lines were just tied up from everyone having the same idea).

The next days were just a blur as everyone tried to process what had happened while also staying glued to the news and trying to capture every bit of commentary. I went home that weekend, and remember my dad mentioning how weird it was that there were no planes overhead.

Life felt a lot less simple after that.
