Key takeaways:
•A security researcher claims the EU’s new age verification app can be bypassed in under two minutes due to design weaknesses.
•The vulnerability reportedly allows attackers to reset authentication controls while retaining previously created identity credentials inside the application.
•Critics argue the system stores security controls locally, making PIN limits, biometrics, and rate-limiting counters easily editable by users.
•The European Commission says the open-source version is still a demo and will continue receiving updates before any final public rollout.

I once had a R500 and a R600, because I was (am) a beach boy.
Search for “transflective”. Most of the time you’ll find sturdy and heavy laptops for construction workers and forest managers.
But these Toshiba’s were ultralight.
(I still have those in storage.)

“The Toshiba Portégé R600 is a highly specialized, ultra-portable business notebook released around 2009, famous for being one of the lightest laptops in the world at the time (starting at roughly 1.1 kg or 2.4 lbs) while including an optical drive. Its defining feature is the transflective LED-backlit display, designed specifically for maximum outdoor readability and power efficiency.

Transflective Display Explained Outdoor Readability: Unlike standard "transmissive" laptop screens that rely entirely on a backlight, the R600’s display is "transflective." This means it can reflect ambient sunlight, allowing the screen to remain legible even in direct sunlight with the backlight turned off.

Holy Camel !

I just discovered there’s a whole bundle of Perl libraries to implement a Nostr client and a relay!

Perl, my old love from the mid-90’s.

I will try and experiment with it for nostalgia’s sake.

(Maybe Claude will help me?)
