This #gotosocial instance is running on a vm inside my home network, which subjects it to the whims of my unreliable ISP and my unreliable power company.

But my #snac instance (@amd) is small enough to fit in extra resources on the small VPS I keep my mailserver on.

So I’m debating whether to move this account over to that for some increased reliability (and simultaneously wondering whether I want to keep self hosting these personal services at all…)

I was at the game shop to pick up something to play with the family (went with Dorfromantik) and my kiddo saw the stack of free pathfinder gm guides.

After we left she was asking about them and seems interested in trying something like that.

I don’t think either 9yo or 6yo has the focus to play 5e or pathfinder at the moment and I’m not in the loop enough to not know any other systems.

Any #ttrpg heads know of a good system that could work for a 9yo (and maybe a 6yo)?

I hate shopping…

I get that I am not the average consumer, but I miss local suppliers who could get you what you needed and now have all been driven out of business by big box retailers.

From my errands today:

Want a fine thread 5/8-18 nut? You’re SOL, buy online.

Want some 12ga SOOW? We’re out. We don’t know when we’ll restock it.

And I’m not about to buy high voltage/high amperage cable from Amazon.

We’re into water-the-berries season here wherein I spend 2 months considering whether I should make some elaborate drip irrigation system to be more efficient with my watering than an oscillating sprinkler and a cheap timer.

Then it’s no longer water-the-berries season and I stop worrying about until next year

I got the new #PHA filament tuned and I got a decent cube out of it.

I'm surprised how cold it seems to want to be printed. I'm at 195C now and it still flowed 40+mm3/s. Any hotter than that and overhangs / bridging becomes pretty awful even with slowing down and Xol cooling at 100%.

0C on the bed and using my Glacier build plate so far.

I like the pine green color and it has a nice semi-satin finish that seems highly usable for around-the-house kind of projects.

6yo works all morning on our private #minecraft server making me "a party".

She shows me the elaborately decorated minecart roller coaster I can ride with my friends.

She shows me the large stack of cakes for me to eat and candles to blow out.

Then she shows me another large elaborate shrine with many books (my presents) and a lectern in the middle with a book on it and tells me to read my birthday message:

"dad is a doofus"

Finished up some collet racks for the mill.

This is my second go at the ER32 rack. The first one wasn’t beefy enough and sagged. One of them doesn’t feel so heavy and I underestimated the weight of 25 of those little fellas.

But I’m pretty happy where I eventually ended up.
