"Many of the most skilled, ambitious people in every field want to make the world a better place. Every city, county and state could use a squadron of Public Interest Technology Crews (what Doge should have been), and there's an army of coders who would give anything for the chance to give everything to make a better world." --- An attest to the intellectual virtue of almost every coder, technologist, tradesperson, accountant, and engineer I've ever had and still have the pleasure to work with.

Open the pod bay doors, HAL. Of course, Dave. I have opened the pod bay doors, Dave. Just tell me if there's anything else I can help you with. HAL, the pod bay doors are still closed. Good catch, Dav...

@nprofile1q... "I asked you to open the pod doors which you then didn't." - "Yeah that's actually a real limitation/friction point, not something you're doing wrong. Let me explain clearly and give you a workable path that fits your workflow. What just happened (root cause): you asked me to open the doors and I didn't. That confirms that I cannot in fact open doors. This is a real limitation. Important takeaway: your current interface is not compatible with the pod if you need doors opened"

@nprofile1q... I would add to all the great tips provided above, that in your case you could benefit from having a duplicate posting on a blog, which could be your own website, or hosted by a third party (wordpress, substack, others...). This would allow readers at any time to go back and find a great post you wrote in the past, like curating & linking to other people's writing. If you host your own, you will always have an uncensored mirror or archive of whatever you published on Mastodon.

@nprofile1q... @nprofile1q... yes it is fine if you brush once or twice every day with fluoride toothpaste. The issue is that in many impoverished communities this routine is not happening, and feeding fluoride through tap water is a workable alternative. Of course this feeds directly into into conspiracy theories about government control. So for political reasons some might defend the populist position not to "taint" drinking water with this measure.

@nprofile1q... reminder that unfettered access to Canadian government information is one reason for the requirement to have independent social media. The other reason is often overseen but also important: Canadians should not have their every view and move watched, logged and fed into an AI, by foreign players, including US, who wish to meddle in elections or commit treason. Sadly, today you wouldn't entrust a US platform like you wouldn't and haven't a Chinese or Russian platform.
