Unfortunately real estate has become a value reserve for the wealthy and a dream of "passive income" and never work again for the middle class.
If there was a reliable way to store their value without property taxes, tenants, squatters, repairs... Most of the money that is flowing to real estate would start flowing to that new thing. That's BTC, but most have not figured it out yet.
