#crochet and #knitting hive mind, what’s the best material for pot holders?

Cotton is flammable. Acrylic melts. Wool is harder to care for and some people are vegan, allergic, or both.

I’m overthinking this to the degree that potholders might cease to exist. What should I use?

Trying to gain confidence for Argyle socks I was very much inspired by “just StitchFiddle it” @nprofile1q... and “a day without Nintendo is a day not lived” @nprofile1q... to practice intarsia in the round on these socks that will probably make the wearer invincible.
