It's too late for #WorkbenchWednesday, and too early for #Shackturday but since this is somewhere in the middle anyway, we'll call it good.

Upgraded the lighting at my little workbench in the shack...just put some LED strips under a couple of the shelf lips.

Took a pic for #Fensterfreitag this morning and then forgot to post it.

Most of my career has been related to construction one way or another, mostly commercial/industrial construction or building systems. Anyway, I realized today that I'm "I helped build this, and now they're renovating it" years old.

If anybody wants a 4ish foot dish for their microwave fun, there is one in the dumpster by the Willow Valley Aquatic center (in Willow Valley PA) I'd take it when no one was looking, but it won't fit in my car😀

The non-penetrating roof mount it's attached to would almost be worth it even if you're not into microwave stuff.

If it was darker I'd sneak over and see what else might be in that dumpster.

This is the new shelves I showed a couple weeks back, while I was building them. They're now in the shack over my small workbench area. Operating position is just to the left of this.

More on my battle of induced signals on some of my coax shield from the invisible fence.

Short story; there is a spot in the house where the dog's collar would beep because coax running under the floor was re-radiating the signals.

I redid the (improper) grounding that the installers did, but that didn't fix it. I also changed the frequency the fence works on (from 4kHz to 8kHz) but also no dice.

I just found an article on making chokes for VLF so that will be my next attempt.

I hate Moby Dick. I've read and loved many classics, but was never able to get on board with The Whale. I'm trying to give it a second chance, but for fucks sake, he takes the first 3 pages to basically say "The ocean is great." I'm all for embellishment and colorful language, but for goodness sake, it could have been a paragraph instead of 3 pages. Maybe I'm an uncultured swine, but this one just irks me, and other 19th century literature I like just fine.

Finishing up Endurance by Scott Kelly and this particular line in the Epilogue feels particularly relative in today's world of LLM chatbots.
