This weeks #Lego #FossilFriday is #Camarasaurus
The holotype was found in the late 1800s in Quarry 13 at Como Bluff, Wyoming.
In 1889, Othniel Marsh described it as a new species, Morosaurus lentus
In the 20th century it was found to be the same species as one named by his rival, Edward Drinker Cope.
This resulted in Morosaurus lentus being renamed to Camarasaurus lentus.

In 1914, Barnum Brown found the first fossils in the Red Deer River formation.
In 1922, William Diller Matthew and Brown named and described the type species of Dromaeosaurus.
Between 1922 and 1988 seven other species were named under the Dromaeosaurus unbrella.
Several of these have since been reclassified as other species or nomia dubia.

@nprofile1q... @nprofile1q... yeah i always guess T Rex, since this thing tends to favor cretaceous, and north america. From there I just make my way down the genera, depending on era, stegosaurus or ankylosaurus, then hadrosaurus... and go from there haha

In 1924, Charles M. Sternberg at Morrin found a more complete skull
In 1929, Charles M. Sternberg at Morrin formally described and named the new species Anchiceratops longirostris.

In 2005, Benjamin P. Kear named QM F11050 as Eromangasaurus carinognathus.
However, earlier in 2005, Sven Sachs named QM F11050 Tuarangisaurus australis. This name thus take priority over E. carinognathus.
Later studies found Eromangasaurus is distinct enough to be its own species.
In a fun coincidence, Eromanga, means windy plain, locally, but means something very different in Japanese, with Ero meaning R18+ and manga meaning comic.
