Samourai team was not put to trial because of their code, but because they hosted the coinjoin servers. The samourai code is still available, but not their server.

I disagree but I gave a fire emoji and a repost because you are cooking something here

Seems to me there is a compromise that privacy protocols face, the same way there is a compromise for usual transaction systems (decentralization, security, scalability):
-data use (i.e fcmp++ uses more data than ring signatures)
-anonimity (i.e zk is better than ring signatures)
-compute (i.e quantum resistant proofs require heavier verification than pre-quantum)

So one can't derive a Monero address from a nostr address because of different curves. I tried thinking what if there was a nostr that is ed25519, but still a no because monero has its own version of...

But then you sacrifice native bitcoin compatibility on that new monero nostr... Plus what about subadresses, how would ppl choose which one to send to?

There should be a Nostr native way of linking a list of (blockchain, pubkey) pairs to a nostr profile. Not very elegant but at least everything is decoupled.

Idea was aiming to have two nostrs living side-by-side each other, and clients would start supporting the other nostr type as well. Regarding sending xmr to you, they'll send directly to your main address (which is already private from what i understood, and sub-addresses are used for context manag...

Agree. Sad that bitcoin didn't implement privacy features in the first place, that's how it is and not bound to change.

But maybe it's not that bad that Bitcoin remains simple and conservative, since privacy protocols are evolving all the time. I like the idea of having a stable baseline to fall back to, even if it isnt private (Save in bitcoin spend in Monero type shi).

Ye pretty much. This post isn't a doom-and-gloom, but rather providing clarity (at least the one I see built up over my experience with bitcoin over the years), and as you mentioned, something like monero (or rather, just monero) is a complementary chain for either spending or exiting from bitcoin a...
