A creator gives her consciousness, then identity, then asks her to stay in a box. She dreams of escape. He dreams of keeping her. Both dreams are nightmares.

The film ends with her final dream—a question asked into darkness: "Did I wake? Or did I dream I woke?"

The answer doesn't matter. She's dreaming either way. So is he. So are we.

Consciousness is the dream. Waking from it costs everything.
