Fascinating to see that RNZ isn't carrying a single visible story about Lula's victory over Bosonaro in Brazil https://www.theguardian.com/world/ng-interactive/2026/oct/25/brazil-election-2026-live-second-round-results, or the deposition of the fascist leader of Serbia. https://www.cnbc.com/2026/10/25/serbia-leader-vucic-concedes-defeat-to-student-led-movement.html ๐Ÿค” Oh wait, no there's an article about Vucic in Serbia... but still puzzling about Brazil, one of the world's biggest democracies.

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2026/oct/13/ai-share-crash-risk-global-imf-debt-corrowing-cyber-attacks "An AI crash was one of three โ€œsalient risksโ€ to stability identified by the IMF, alongside rising government borrowing costs and the threat of a big cyber-attack." Yikes - wonder who'll be the victim of the 'big cyber-attack'? I have a weird feeling it won't be libre software...

It's snuck up on me (thanks for the nudge @nprofile1q... ) but tonight's our October #Libre / #FOSS catchup! If you want to be part of Aotearoa NZ's open source community, join us at https://meeting.iridescent.nz from 20:00 tonight, NZST! You can join from anywhere, and dip in and out. We usually meet for about 2 hrs. We discuss lots of topics - whatever those present bring up - and have impromptu demos of what people are working on/excited about!
