could always own a "pre-fangs" model. ..but then you're taking on a lot of maintenance of an older vehicle.

they do make dumb flip phones, I have a simple nokia on a basic plan that I keep around just in case.
but it'll still geo-track you with cell towers, regardless of how dumb the phone is.

i use an analog watch already. i don't need bluetooth headphones on me everywhere I go (and if I do take them, they don't have to be on constantly). the car is the big problem, yes.

Maybe I don't know what pbx is. is a data-only SIM not getting pinged from cell towers in the setup you're describing?

I've seriously considered getting a beeper to avoid being geo-tracked. phone in a faraday bag, only comes out for an urgent page.

I've often fantasized about hacking a receipt printer to print out what normally we check apps for - todo lists, RSS feed updates, crossword puzzles, etc - imagine anything you glance at on a phone, but printed out once or twice a day and waiting for you. you pick that up and go have your coffee with paper and pens. your smart phone migrates more and more towards being "a phone" again, for timely, urgent contact. computers and tablets for focused, intentional work)
