arbiters can choose to set a fee, and users can choose to use their service or select someone else.
curators (on https://grantless.org ) don't really exist at the #catallax protocol level - they're more of a ui/ux feature, supplied by #dlists and #WoT . there's nothing stopping an aspiring curator from using catallax to build out their curation service for a fee.
all these raw materials are available for innovative people ta build markets and economies on top of. this is why the protocol is deliberately unopinionated and the current clients are billed as "reference". i'd like to see others build opinionated systems on top

So I can hire a hitman and say I have never violated NAP?
vinney...axkl profile picture
I think yea. The hitman is absolutely violating the NAP, but you aren’t. You’re doing something else that I’m pretty sure would get you ostracized or penalized in any Ancapistan, just like trespassing and contract violation isn’t a NAP transgression, but is (voluntarily) agreed to be verboten anyway.

It’s not just “preserves NAP: okay; violates NAP: not okay”. latter, yes. former… depends on the community and their norms and agreements. If you squint the right way, “hitman” or at least “contract enforcer” is basically an expected piece of a voluntarist, NAP-respecting society.
What if you have an agreement with your neighbor that if either knowingly steals the others vegetables, he is consenting to being hunted down and murdered. When your neighbor takes your cucumber, he’s going to expect your “hitman” to come after him.

There's a pre-existing agreement in your scenario. Very different from hiring someone to hunt down that co-worker who didn't like your tie. Expected harms are kind of necessary in the model to arrive at a liveable society. For example, dumping waste in the river isn't poisoning anyone directly but ...

I'm starting to get the ball rolling here with a puny 5,000 sat crowdfund injection. Who's gonna help get this phase of Smesh development funded? Can we prove that nostr doesn't need OpenSats to survive?

i've had claude make a load of neat things for me. one was a keyboard shortcut that turns off the display on my pc manually. took like 2 scripts and 3 or 4 different tools. i also recently got it to make me a playwright based web scraper for job listings on the internet. so many sites the simple ht...
