One tree, three moods. From a long bike ride today.

We're still having fun with this Max Steel I got for $3. He lives in the bathroom that visitors use. We leave him in the most awkward positions, but still nobody comments. I keep waiting for somebody to say something, but it seems to be unmentionable.

Some rainbow lichen seen through a loupe. I didn't edit the colors in this photograph, although I've seen them previously, playing with the color intensity of other lichen photographs. As with auroras, the camera picks up colors that our eyes don't see. They seem to have been intensified by the loupe lens.

I spotted this on my way to take my daughter and her roommate grocery shopping, and stopped on the way back. I love the fall colors by sunlight, and they're also pretty great by streetlight.

It was a gorgeous day today.

For ages, I had a loupe in my save-for-later shopping cart, but never got around to actually ordering it. My mom recently sent me a care package that included a loupe. I had never said anything about it, she just knows me pretty well. So today I was running around and using it with my phone camera. This little sweat bee says hi.

"Thank you for your service"
- me to my dog who just helped cleaned up some food that spilled in the kitchen floor

"Choose a Job You Love, and You Will Never Have To Work a Day in Your Life"
- my dog

Bingo! If it were Tuesday, I would throw in a couple more hashtags. (Texture, thick trunk)

Do you prefer red or yellow?

Bummer

I was going out in the back yard with the dog, and said to myself, surely I can survive 5 minutes without my phone camera, and then I saw this critter, and ran back in for my camera. A locust treehopper.
