Today is Indigenous Peoples Day.

The Geneva Conference of 1977 was a watershed moment for Indigenous peoples of the Americas. It was the very first UN conference with Indigenous delegates, the first direct entry of Native peoples into international affairs, the first time that Native peoples were able to speak for themselves at the UN.

It was also the first declaration of Indigenous Peoples Day. A counter-celebration to Christopher Columbus Day, which celebrates colonization and a fake “discovery” of lands of the Americas.

Lately I’ve really been considering moving from macOS to Linux. But y’all may not know how scary and chaotic that is. I assume I’m not alone.

Anyone have good stories making this transition?

I’ve been designing and coding for 30 years. THREE fucking decades. On Apple computers that entire time. And I have my family set-up on them. We share apps and stuff.

Moving to Linux would be a wild ride. Even though it’s the one place in my life where I’m contributing to big tech. It feels like the last holdout.

For an ADHD person like me, this is filling me with blend of excitement and anxiety.

I’m loving Linux on my old MacBook. But I might want some new hardware. Like a laptop from @nprofile1q.... Their hardware is primo.

I’d love any/all advice, stories, etc.

I’ve never been a Digital Ocean customer. But they’re really taking a nose dive right now.

First, they offer healthy financial support for the fascist Linux project, otherwise known as Omarchy. Now they’re killing one of the best CSS resources around, @nprofile1q....

How are they killing it? Well, they’re giving SO much money to fascism that they can no longer afford the small potatoes of a CSS community knowledge base.

As @nprofile1q... points out, so many of us front-end developers are indebted to CSS Tricks. The authors there have been invaluable to my own skillset.
