@Carolyn

I'm still here, I have photos to prove it. (All photos I post are mine unless specifically stated otherwise.)

Proud Canadian. (mostly)

My non-pinned posts are set to delete after 2 months.

No alt text, no boost.

I periodically go through old jpegs folders looking for something and end up posting what might be a lot of images. If this might be annoying, please put #JPegsFolder in your filters.

This is cool: “In a study published in Apidologie, researchers at East Lawn Cemetery in Ithaca, New York, uncovered one of the largest known aggregations of ground-nesting solitary bees ever recorded, estimating that an average of about 5.6 million bees emerge from a single section of lawn each spring, with totals ranging from roughly 3.1 to 8 million.”

I thought the tree was full of only Tennessee warblers as well as the orioles, but there were a few other species of warblers. Because they were mostly in the shadow of the branches, they weren't easy to see or photograph. This yellow warbler made a brief appearance, though was still in mostly in shadow.

Some brightness for this grey, stormy day.

I actually thought to go out today, while there are still blossoms, to get bird with blossoms with water drops, but it was way too windy and dark.

Sigh.

“A white doctor based in Colorado has teamed up with a conservative legal group to sue the online directory, “Find A Black Doctor,” for allegedly discriminating against physicians based on their race.“

Personally, I won’t have any but a woman GP, but if I were in Colorado, I would definitely blacklist him. Of all professions, his is one in which he should understand this need.

Amongst them are a few more rare red trilliums. #RedTrilliums #Trilliums https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/116/619/363/638/048/058/original/303bad83344140a3.jpg

A tale of the toads, as a distraction from, well, waves around. I took a walk and heard frogs singing a few days ago! This is a new local little wetland. We have been getting a lot of rain these past few years and even when we have heat warning heat, it gets really hot, then it rains, so nothing dries out. So this new little, easily accessible, wetland was new to me. And frogs singing! One was visible, in the water with vibration circles about him.

Looking at university costs, I’m glad I was educated when I was. I don’t think I would’ve been able to afford it today. Kids who live in university towns really have no idea how lucky they are. A kid I know, who lived at home, was given a car to commute, bragged about having put herself through school. She paid tuition and books with money she made at the summer job her mom got for her. That is only part if the cost.

Anyway. All kids deserve an education.

When I was a kid some really foolish parents would have chickenpox parties. These days we remove hanta infected people from confined areas and distribute them on planes across the world. Apparentl...

@nprofile1q... Chickenpox is generally milder in children, so before vaccinations were available to prevent it, there was a sense to it.

That is no comparison for hanta, for which there is no vax and no treatment other than manage the symptoms, and for which outcomes of having it are much more dire.

I mean brey it's simple - is a brick through a window "peaceful?" Cause I think it is. Nobody is getting murdered. Property damage isn't violence. But most of y'all are pretty sure bricks through w...
Carolyn profile picture
@nprofile1q... Depends where the window is? You can’t know who is on the other side and bricks can act like weapons. During Spanky’s first term, a White woman clocked an old Hispanic man in the head with a brick because she thought he bumped into her baby stroller as they passed each other. It’s also violence if small businesses have their windows smashed.
