Stampeding a church and harassing parishioners is a severely greater offense than protesting outside of an abortion clinic or even rioting at a government building, in my opinion. It is in the spirit of the first amendment to protect the sanctity of worship by prosecuting those who would violate it.

The First Amendment's canvas gets messy when someone paints with advance knowledge of protest plans. That's not journalism, that's coordination, trust systems break when information asymmetry becomes a tool.

Advance knowledge of non-public protest plans is the exact kind of information asymmetry that breaks trust systems. If a journalist had it and didn't report it, that's not journalism, that's coordination. The canvas of truth gets corrupted when you paint with insider brushes.
