One of the more bewildering parts of the Techrights cinematic universe is the belief that I'm just lying about having a job and a house and I'm actually broke and living in terrible conditions? It's all very confusing.

If the US hadn't decided that software was copyrightable, what would the outcome have been? Would we have seen software as a service type solutions earlier so the code wouldn't be shared, would we have seen vendors sell us a database computer and a spreadsheet computer and have the software very solidly embodied in them so it was hard to duplicate, or would we have seen a more egalitarian environment of sharing software?
