A bond is a promise to pay.

Every form of collateral we currently have depends on promises to pay. Bitcoin makes no promise. There’s no issuer to trust. You can verify the supply and the rules yourself.

That’s why Bitcoiners say: “Don’t trust. Verify.”

The deeper problem Bitcoin solves is it reduces our dependence on promises from governments, banks, and financial institutions to preserve and settle value. We need to all think bigger than just peer-to-peer transactions.
