Tonight our dispatcher is sick. Horse/congested and sounds like she is dying.
Nine out of ten callers are not half as sick as she is.
It would be nice if she could tell the non-sick to stop calling.

Gave whole blood to a person shot in the chest last night.
Initial blood pressure 58/palp, HR 130+
After 2 units: BP 118/62, HR 108
Person was talking by time we arrived at the trauma center.
A year ago, I’m 99.99% sure they would have died.
Give blood, save a life!

Got a call from “Google Security” because a “request to change my phone number” had been made.
They wanted me to go to a special webpage, enter my old password, make a new one, and provide a proof of who I am after I change it.

What do these scammers get out of that?

Smoking and vaping hurt your lungs.
Slowly over time. Your lungs die a little bit each inhale.
Last night had 5 people in their late 50’s early 60’s who were unable to breath because they smoked.
One we sedated, paralyzed, and intubated so they would keep breathing.

Worse is when we hear the address and immediately start guessing who it is this time.
Tonight’s call was the same person we took a week before with a fractured orbital.
This time they are leaving the other person for sure (again)

Tonight we had the temp drop from the 80’s to the low 40’s.

This causes “breathers” to have problems.

Ended up intubating one person because they were so distressed.
