As some of you might know, I’m digitizing my whole cd collection, to run my own personal streaming service via #navidrome

I’m working on a Linux laptop (Elementary OS) to do so, and also to maybe learn more about Linux, that seemed like a cool thing to do🤷🏼‍♂️
I had to install some apps to get going, some were available on the built in app store.

But here’s where it gets crazy (for me at least lol): I had to install some apps via Terminal, a lot of you people here are probably familiar with that, no big deal.
But Istill wonder how that works 😅

How does a line of code like this:
“sudo apt install cdparanoia”
Installs the correct app?
Like, how does it know which app is the right one?

On a windows pc you have to search the internet, find the right thing, make sure it’s not a virus or whatever. Might aswell come with some malware or whatnot.

On Linux it’s just a line of code and boom, done.

Keep in mind I’m not familiar with all this yet, but still, really blows my mind.

There, I said what I had to say
