@nprofile1q... Even stranger to me is the way the rest of the world seems to be pretending everything is normal with people coming in and then finding out that no, in fact, it is not normal in person.

Even as much as the media are sanewashing everything the regime is doing, they still haven't hidden the fact that people are being kidnapped off the streets and illegally crammed into concentration camps. Why would anyone want to walk into that situation knowing it could be them in the news next?

@nprofile1q... I don't know, this one is tricky. I've seen some actually not do this but, in fact, kind of the opposite. Pretty much a "pulling up the ladder behind them" thing. Wanting the systems that helped them to be destroyed lest they help others. I think it somehow goes either way, very much depending on the person, but also somewhat on the influences they're exposed to. My own parents went from being somewhat open-minded in the past to strong right now with a lot of closet hate/bigotry.

@nprofile1q... So I was just thinking about this and what I think was the perfect metaphor just popped into my head.

Those in power mandating that people not be allowed to use encryption is the same thing as if they were mandating that we not have locks on our doors. They don't want us to have encryption so they can break into everything we own without a warrant and it's absolutely no different from requiring no locks on houses so they can break in to our houses without a warrant.

@nprofile1q... Without the mass media (and most social media platforms) working so hard to prop up the hatemongers I wonder if they even could have reached the level they have even in these times.

They certainly did an awful lot to help ensure the Trump/Project 2025 regime could come into power. I really wonder if Trump ever would have gained power over the US that first time without Facebook, Fox, and etc falling over themselves to help.

It simply is amazing how when it was discovered that COVID-19 was cutting into profit margins for the rich the whole world was forced to not only ignore it, but to have to go hard in the opposite direction because any acknowledgement that it exists could potentially make people realize that, you know, it exists, so even already existing mitigations had to be stomped out.

And the world just goes along with this and just nevermind the human cost.

This is not sustainable.

Well, I haven't exactly done a deep dive into the man's life (in the same way I haven't done a deep dive into Hitler's life because vomit) but I'm under the impression his biggest problem was probably his family. They were probably like him to his kids.

3. Trump is arrested and tried for war crimes, the illegal war stops by default.

Albeit it's very very unlikely even though in a timeline where the world wasn't insane it would actually be 100% likely instead. (Of course if we were in a sane timeline Trump would be in prison or even hanging at the end of a rope for having committed high treason against the U.S. government.)

I guess it won't happen, but it's not quite 0%. Just... like 0.1%.

@nprofile1q... The craziest thing to me is that there is no way a thing like this wouldn't ultimately hurt children far more than anything they are *claiming* it supposedly prevents.

Like how does that not just automatically become a deal killer for all these bills?

The cost that they perceive as "disposable" is labor. The highest actual cost, by far, is the people at the top, most of whom do practically nothing (or even make willfully bad decisions like integrating fake "AI" into systems that shouldn't be using a LLM and will ultimately present a huge loss later) while being paid many many millions...

And those are the positions most disposable and that a LLM could fake best...

Like he's saying the quiet parts that even MAGA don't like out loud now. Have things gotten so far that he can do that?
