I'm building a vscode extension to help folk get to know codebases using language models, I started looking into it last year and am just now getting my head back into it..

At the time it stuck me as very weird how you interact with these things programmatically, as you essentially write a prompt in markdown strings and pass it just as you would in chat, then need to parse the response, like a very strange database query..

A great way to maximise productivity and efficiency would be to retain talent and keep employee attrition rates as low as possible, and yet companies prefer to churn through staff..

It's almost always about consolidating power and control even when that hurts the business. Same with aggressive rollouts of LLMs for code generation, part of the goal is for employees to understand as little as possible about the systems they work on..
