My day has gone from bad to worse.
I've replaced #Windows10 with #Debian13 on someones computer (good bit).
Debian won't boot, so I took it home to investigate.
The #BIOS battery need replacing an...
Now the PC can't identify the screen and defaults to a stupid low resolution in the wrong ratio...

@nprofile1q... to be fair desktop systems are quite modular and easy to work with. Laptops are a nightmare by comparison.

@nprofile1q... put the HD from the dead system into my spare and with the graphics card from the dead system it wasn't happy.
Swapped the graphics card with another one, I could use the onboard one but RAM is tight.
It will now boot to text mode okay, it wasn't even happy doing that before. Adding back a graphical desktop to see how stable it is...
So pleased I have spares to offer in exchange.

@nprofile1q... it's an Asus. I suspect I fried it when I popped the old battery out and put the new one in.
It's been off and cold for over half an hour now and still nothing.
The cheap Asus GT710 graphics card was causing all sorts of problems, even on another motherboard. That was probably my first problem, now I've an unreliable graphics card and a dead motherboard.
Thankfully I've a spare system to give back to them.

I downloaded a new BIOS, but it's dead so I've not even flashed it.
