The pipe got fixed, the garage door got fixed but it broke again in a different way some months later (but we can open and close it manually). I have holes in my drywall (made to find the leak) and water damage.

Not sure. I bring it up because my garage door broke and I couldn't close it (not even manually) and my laundry room / basement bathroom pipe burst. Not a fun experience.

Don't crack your garage door open at 12F unless you know for sure it won't freeze any pipes.

Either use a wrapper or add separate cronjobs for the different windows.
