I've said it before and I'll say it again. Walkie-talkie is such a silly name for an object. Imagine if we let that person name other things: sitty-watchy (a telly), brainie-rottie (internet), sittie-travelie (train), drinkie-chokie (boba tea but only when white people drink it for the first time), lickie-freezie (ice-cream)

Does anyone have any resources on what's the best way to hide spoilers in a weblog post? Specifically to keep it #accessible for screen reader users. I could think of a few ways to do it in HTML and CSS, but I would like to make sure it doesn't mess with screen reader software.

Just learnt there's a new show called Game of Wool (think Bake Off but for knitting), kind of trying to convince my partner to watch it together (neither of us knits, but my partner crochets)

Nowadays when I do web search and I see a page was created in the last couple of years I get suspicious of LLM involvement.

Of course websites could lie about the page age, but I am just more likely to trust an older page.

So, what lemmy/kbin (or similar software, I don't keep up with popular fediverse software) servers would you recommend to join?

I haven't actively used Reddit in a long time and sometimes I just miss the message board feel. I know I could use this account for that, but I think I'd like to keep it separated by context.

My main concern is how well is the server moderated. Of course a nerdy server would be preferred, but as long as the server is federated, I think I am fine with any place that would have me (and again, is well moderated)

Oh gosh... I go to certain subreddits (like r/baduk) to lurk and I was reading some thread and under the last comment there were links to interesting questions. I was thinking they were some more related posts. I clicked on them, it turned out it was freaking AI.

Now, if you play baduk you will know it's also called Go in the west. Guess what else is often called Go? Golang. The generative AI confused Go the game and Go the programming language.

I've been talking to a friend about this recently and I think #BBC should start offering a subscription option.

Not only paying in full is a lot at once, but I am mostly watching BBC (whether it's on TV or iPlayer) for Doctor Who these days. I think many people would be much more likely to pay for the TV licence if it could be smaller amount monthly (whether all year long or while their favourite series are on).

As much as I hate the abundance of subscription options nowadays, I wouldn't mind paying £14.54 (174.50 divided by 12) a month. Obviously I would prefer something cheaper, but even that would be better than just paying full £174.50 in one go. I would probably end up watching other things, too, in the end. But currently BBC wants me to pay so much money when I am mostly interested in Doctor Who.
