most people don't even seem to understand what financialization is, or what it even means when someone says that an insurance company is a major investor in shit like real estate or private equity destruction of pizza hut

and i think failure to understand the degree to which the entire economy has been financialized has contributed to the last 30 to 50 years of economic whackadoodle behavior

it sounds like the OS is not in fact managing memory and has instead completely giving up managing it and handed that job over to competing applications and the OS only steps in when something goes wrong

but CAS, Exploratorium, Lawrence Hall, and even CHM, they communicate "this is a place to warehouse knowledge, store it away, and maybe give you vague glimpses, but certainly not a place to exalt in it"

you can stand underneath a plane or a rocket ship, you can be engulfed in a model of the solar system and beyond that, the building itself, a beautiful artifact that engulfs them all, symbolic of humanity's attempts to make sense of the world and bring it into our understanding

you may not be able to touch the dinosaurs and learn how paleontologists excavate a fossil in a hands on fashion, but you can at least stand under an imposing T. Rex or Brontosaurus, and think "my gosh, what monsters! i want to unearth these myself!"
