The Roman conquest of Dacia. It was brutal. We can see it in the Ancient DNA. The men are Roman soldiers/colonists, the women are eastern european native. The Dacians fought back. The King committed suicide instead of being taken prisoner. They knew what the Romans wanted. There was large amounts of gold in Dacia, so much it tanked the price of gold in Rome. Silver as well. Slaves too. Rome invested in a lot of building after it conquered it, roads, capital. They wanted it to be a permanent mine. Trajan’s Forum and Column in Rome was built from Dacian wealth.
