@nprofile1q... Generally speaking, they are evolutions of one another. Trouble is evolution is a slow process, and there is also a lot of inertia in programming. Hence a lot of languages are floating around.

Edit: I'll rephrase that a little: a lot of the child you once were stays with you all of your life.

@nprofile1q... Don't lose sight of the fact that there was much loss and hardship, and 'fast' is only a retrospective view; people living through the 1950s and 60s and early 70s probably would not feel that way.
